Not to be confused with popular mee sua chain Ay Chung Mian Xian in Taiwan, Ah Zhong Mian Xian is a new restaurant at South Bridge Road helmed by Taiwanese chef Yu Cheng Min. Similar to his first widely acclaimed concept Feng Food, this restaurant offers a variety of classic Taiwanese fare.

Expect to find the restaurant’s namesake dish, the Signature Mee Sua ($8.80), here, which features wheat vermicelli and braised pig intestines in a smooth, thickened soup. If you’d like something with more protein, get the Pork Meat Mee Sua for the same price, or order the Combo Mee Sua (TBD) for a combination of pig intestines, pork chunks, and shrimp.

Online reviews also recommend their Braised Pork Rice ($9.10), comprising a bowl of pork belly, egg, and savoury braised sauce.

Another popular dish is the Pork Chop With Fried Rice (TBD), starring sliced marinated pork chop served atop a bed of fragrant egg fried rice.

End your meal on a sweet note with familiar Taiwanese beverages such as Brown Sugar Milk Tea With Pearls ($3.90), or try the Brown Sugar Winter Melon Tea ($3) for something more traditional.Image credit: Han Lim

With no GST and service charge on menu prices, as well as its convenient location—a five-minute walk away from Chinatown MRT Station—Ah Zhong Mian Xian is certainly worth a try for Taiwanese food fans in the area.
